Branson’s most classic attraction is the scenic railway. The scenic railway lets you experience a 40-mile excursion through breathtaking Ozark Mountain and tunnels on a vintage passenger train. They offer a unique vintage ride from the late 1930s to early 1960s.There is no other Branson attraction that lets you step back in time in such a way. Treat yourself to an amazing onboard dining experience while having a four-course meal similar to what was done years ago on the same railway. You will enjoy viewing wildlife and beautiful Ozark sites that are only found on railroad maps. The history of the Ozark Railway and the role it played in the back days is also narrated during the trip.

The Branson Scenic Railway ride takes about one hour and 45 minutes. During the ride, there is a lovely narrative that will point out landmarks as you travel through the tunnels and over the trestles. You can also have fun switching seats on the cars since the seats are unassigned. You can sit where you can have a good view of wildlife and sights that are not accessible by cars including old abandoned communities by the road. All passengers can explore the same experience railroad travelers enjoyed many years ago.

A special dinner train operates offering passengers a chance to experience an onboard dining experience. It consists pf a romantic candle lit dinner while rocking along the rails of Ozark Mountains. The dinner choices include baked fish, roasted red potatoes, vegetable mix, cakes and chicken. A vegan meal is also available which includes salads and vegetables. All menus are subject to change. The dinner train runs from April to October and departs Branson every Saturday at 5 p.m. The dinner train is recommended for passengers who are thirteen years old and above. There is also a concession area that offers refreshments for passengers to purchase.

The train provides great views of Lake Taneycomo and the beautiful mountains of the Ozarks as it rolls out from Branson, Missouri. A description of the wild animals and the beautiful landscape and an outline of the railroad’s role in shaping the Ozarks is also given through a beautiful narration.

One feature of the Branson train ride is that the passengers are not aware of the route they will use until about 15 minutes before departure. The direction of the train is determined by the Missouri and Northern Arkansas Railroad before departure. The train can use the North or South route. You should arrive at least forty minutes before the scheduled departure time. Passengers in wheelchairs or any disability are allowed to board the train first. Handicapped seating is very limited due to the vintage nature of Branson Scenic Railway’s cars.
